November 6 • General Meeting

6:00 – 7:00 Pre-Funk: Spokane Women on the Fly presents Leeanna Young, recently retired from 30 plus years as a volunteer with King County Fire 44, where she received certification as a swift water technician. Leeanna will talk about river safety both from a wading and floating perspective.

7:00 – 8:30: SFTU Presents Paul Lindholdt and Chris Kopczynski will talk about their celebrated new book, “The Spokane River.” This collection of river stories profiles the living river through personal reflection, history, science, and poetry. Come to listen and be inspired!

Paul Lindholdt is an author, ecocritic, editor, and professor from Seattle, Washington. Currently at Eastern Washington University, Lindholdt received a 2012 Washington State Book Award for his ecological memoir In Earshot of Water: Notes from the Columbia Plateau and is the Spokane River Hero 2018.

Chris Kopczynski is a World-class Mountaineer, and President of Dishman Hills Conservancy. He became the ninth American to scale Everest and the 12th man in the world to climb the highest peak on all seven continents.
