Stream Girls on the Little Spokane
April 13, 2019 - April 14, 2019
FreeStream Girls 2019 will be held on the Little Spokane River near St Georges School. Volunteers are needed. Please contact Kim Palmer for more information about volunteering.
Steam Girls (Science, Technology, Recreation, Engineering, Art, Math) is an experiential outdoor activity designed for girls age 11-16. Participants will get an in-depth, hands-on experience of a stream from the perspective of a Scientist, and Artist and an Angler. The girls wade in the stream and record in their journals the plants, animals, and terrain that makes up the riparian area. Girls will also learn how to tie a fly based on the bugs they found and go fishing with that fly if water levels are appropriate. Lunch and patch included.
*This is a 2-day event, so overnight accommodations are available, by contacting Lani Nachtsheim (info below)
