NF CDA Fishing

Outing: Registration for the outing is required and includes a fee of $16.00 to cover the cost of the campsites and our communal Saturday Dinner.

This is meant to be a social fishing weekend and we have reserved 4 campsites at Big Hank Campground.  Each of the campsites are limited to a capacity of 8 people and 1 Car/RV (There is an area right outside the campground that we can park vehicles).  RV camping this weekend will be limited to the first three members that sign up.  Units over 38 feet may have difficulties. This campground has vaulted toilets and potable water

Please let us know how many people will be in your party and how many tent spots are needed to accommodate them

Please bring your own fishing gear, tents, food and camping supplies. Idaho Fishing Licenses are required.

Included Meal: There will be a communal BBQ Saturday evening and we’ll have discussions and stories around the camp fire.

Directions: I-90 east to Idaho exit 43 (Kingston exit). At the exit stop sign take a left crossing the I-90 overpass heading north. Continue on the Coeur d’Alene River Road (stay on the main road…some GPS have you turn off the main road) for 46 miles.

Informational:

The North Fork is one of the premier cutthroat fisheries in our area. Cutthroats in the 14 inch range are common and typically a 17 to 18 inch fish will be caught during your day.

Primary patterns during this time of year include Mayflies imitating Blue Winged Olives, Pale Morning Duns, Brown Drakes, Green Drakes all in size 12 and 14’s. There will be some Golden Stones (size 10 & 12), Yellow Sallies (12 & 14), and tan caddis (12 & 14). Occasionally you’ll see large hatches of ants (14). Hoppers (10 &12) also begin to show at this time. Pheasant Tail and Red Copper John’s (12 & 14) and flashback nymphs in green and purple (16) work well under the surface near the bottom.
