Speak up for Steelhead and Salmon: NW Power and Conservation Council Hearing
Use your voice to stand for salmon! Despite not having steelhead and salmon for over 100 years, these fish are on the verge of a comeback thanks to cultural reintroduction efforts by area tribes and isolated populations of native redband trout that still hold the genetics of their steelhead ancestors. That is if we can provide the habitat and fish passage needed for these iconic symbols of our rivers.
Please join us in urging the NW Power and Conservation Council to chart a course towards affordable, efficient, and reliable energy that also protects and restores abundant fish populations in its 2026 Fish & Wildlife Program. With continued efforts to weaken the Endangered Species Act, the 2026 Fish and Wildlife Program is the best path to mitigate further harm to fish from hydropower operations in the Columbia and Snake Rivers and make actionable progress towards recovery goals. Together, we can use our voices to ensure the Program is strong enough to achieve that goal. Go to tinyurl.com/npccSpokane for more resources and information.
