Backbone is partnering with Save Our wild Salmon to create a Human Orca Mural at the park this Sunday at 1pm – and we need you to join us!
Help create a giant human orca mural and show that Spokane cares about Washington’s orca whales! Governor Inslee will soon be submitting recommendations to the state legislature on how to save and restore our imperiled whales. Our orcas are starving from lack of chinook salmon, their primary food. Removing the lower Snake dams and spilling more water at dams is critical to feeding our whales.
Location: Lilac Bowl, Riverfront Park
When: Sunday, Nov 11, 1-2pm
- All welcome; no skills necessary.
- This is a fun event for families and kids.
- Wear black and bring a black umbrella, if you have one.
- Free – donations accepted at event and here.
RSVP here (if you’re on facebook) or email.
Come out and show your support for whales and wild salmon! We will photograph the event and send it to Inslee as a show of Eastside support for Washington’s whales.
Can’t make it but want to support more artful actions to protect the orca and remove the Lower Snake dams? Pitch in here.
Thank you!
