Dear Washington river supporter!

This week, two bills were introduced in the Washington Legislature that could finally create lasting protections for fish and water quality in Washington’s waters related to suction dredge mining. We’re going to need your help to ensure they become law – and we’ll make it easy for you to weigh in.

Click here to send an email to your state legislators in support of these water-protecting bills.
We’ve made it easy by pre-writing a message that you can edit.

The bills are related to proper protections against impacts of suction dredge mining. If you’re unfamiliar with this issue, click here for an overview. In short, suction dredge mining threatens critical habitat for salmon, steelhead, and other native fish in Washington. While our neighboring states have strengthened their protections, this activity on Washington waters remains largely unchecked. Washington spends hundreds of millions on fish habitat restoration while this harmful activity continues, and it’s time we do something about it.

These bills propose commonsense changes to rules and regulations for motorized suction dredge mining in our rivers and streams.

To help protect our rivers and fish from suction dredge mining in Washington, we need to ensure these bills become law. Click here to send a quick email to your legislators in support.

With your help, we’re confident we’ll soon see a day when Washington rivers and streams are protected from motorized suction dredge mining. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Melyssa Graeper
