Attention Volunteers! Our Angler Science Sediment Study on the Spokane River is about to commence next month. Please review the sediment study information page that details the study and how you can register to volunteer to take water samples and contribute your data. The first volunteer training meeting will be approximately one hour and will take place on Wednesday, December 13th at the Community Building downtown. Sediment study training will be held at the Community Building Lobby, 6:30 – 7:30 pm on Wednesday, December 13th, 2017.
The Community Building Lobby – 35 W Main Street, Spokane WA – this training is necessary before volunteers can be checked out to collect samples.
- Learn about how we will take sediment samples, where we will sample and how we will record transparency samples of sediment in the Spokane River and Hangman Creek.
- The Study will require one hour of volunteer time a week. The samples will be collected once a week (Saturday) by pairs of volunteers – A vehicle is needed and availability on a weekend.
- The sampling locations are right in and around the mouth of Hangman Creek in the Sandifur Bridge and TJ Meenach location of the Spokane River.
- Sediment Study will begin first Saturday of January and run through the last Saturday of June/July.
